Great site! A lot of usefull info.

Excellent website and interesting domain name. Well designed website, simple and clear. Excellent text!

Was surprised to see there are about 3 times more tailors in Pattaya than Bangkok!

Did you make your site yourself or use a company?

Deepak said...

Thanks Rene.
I designed it myself, using a template of course, and then got final touches from a professional web designer. Like I have already mentioned I am based in Pattaya, I have a better understanding of this place than of any other. Very soon you will see some more tailors recommended by me in Bangkok and Phuket. My research is still on.

hello deepak, Glad to find your website about tailors. Wife and I are coming to Koh Samui in early March. Do you know of any tailors on the island? Of course we will be traveling around the south of Thailand also.We will be traveling from the USA and will be staying in Thailand for about three months. Let us know of any special sites we should include in our visit there. Please respond or require information at email address cdelappe@comcast.net

Hi Deepak. I have also emailed you this question, but can you make any reccomendations for online tailors? Thanks.

Prasad said...

Hi Deepak,
What are the needs to qualify to list on your site and also is the fee?
Thanks,
Prasad

RICHARD said...

Hi Deepak,

I can't imagine what comments people were making to upset you, as I think that your site is great.

keep up the good work :-)

Deepak said...

Prasad: Yes, there is a small fee tailors pay per month to be on my site. To qualify they have to offer right product at a right price.

Richard: What you see now is not the original version of my site. I was under a lot of heat from local tailors when I lauched this site last year.

Just wanted to say thank you for your advice. I got several items made at Maharaja's in Pattaya recently. Was treated like a king and probably most important the quality and the result were amazing. To anyone wanting a suit or simply a shirt in the Pattaya area, I highly recommend the gentlemen at Maharaja's.

Thanks for the honest advice..

Regards,

Thank you Boaz.

Hi Deepak

Thanks for your service. It has made making a final selection much easier. Is there any tailor in Bangkok you would particularly recommend for ladies evening dresses? The hotel has recommended one on this site that looks good but just wanted to get a second opinion.

Thanks

Deepak said...

You are most welcome. Give my reference to the tailor that you are visiting. If they are in my list, they are reliable.
cheers

Dear Deepak,

It is a good idea that you are sharing with us. The list only shows Indian Tailor Shops who usually made fortune by providing great services in Tailoring industry.

Thanks

Michel Zheng, HongKong

Deepak said...

When I do my survey for good tailors, I do not take into account the tailor's race, caste, creed or color. I am more concerned about the quality of their products and customer service they offer.

Anonymous said...

I visited Silver Tailor once. I believe its owned by a Thai family.

Anonymous said...

hello,
i sent an email enquiry but haven't heard back from you. i'm trying to find a tailor who can produce sherwani in bangkok. please let me know if you know of anyone. thanks!

Deepak said...

I received your email Josh and I have been asking some people about it too. So far I don't know anyone who will do it for you here in Thailand. If its really important for you, I can have it made from India. It will take about a month to complete it. If you like more info, email me.

Mr Deepak

Would you kindly inform your colleagues in Pattaya that aggressive and rude sales tactics imposed on passing strangers in the street is destined to end up with fractures and lacerations directed at the offending parties that instigated the whole conundrum in the first place.

Tailors? No.

Fools? Most definitely.

The truth about tailors in Thailand revolves around one simple fact:

Screw the tourists with extreme prejudice.

Good day.

Surat.

Deepak said...

I am not here to correct tailors or pass judgements on their business policies. I only recommend tailors that I consider good. If you are not satisfied with any of the tailors on my list, I would definitely like to be informed about it.

Anonymous said...

I think your site has good information and easy to read. Good work.

Dear Sarit from Maharaja Tailors - Pattaya

I just have to express my satisfaction with the suit and shirts I got from you less than an hour ago!
Your work is absolut amazing!
Fast service and very high quality and many small details that just make it a even bigger plesure to wear!
- have compared the suit to the ones I have already and none of them have the same quality though they have costed doubble the price.

You can be sure that I will advice all of my colleagues going to Thailand that they should pay you a visit! - And thoug it might be a while before I come back to Pattaya I will make sure to take the time to stop by you again!

You can quote me on this!

Best regards
Alex Kristensen

P.s. Thank you very much for the extra tie!

Hi Deepak,

How long would you expect it to take to make a shirt? Will most of these places mail clothes overseas if not finished by the time I leave the country?

Thanks,
Jess

Deepak said...

Different shops will take different amount of time to tailor a shirt. If you are visiting any of the tailor on my list and they promise to mail you your shirts, then they will.

Deepak said...

For Raymond: I feel really bad to know about your experience with this tailor. As much as I would like to help you, I can't, as I do not know this tailor. Had you visited any of the tailors on my list, you wouldn't have faced such a problem.

I will try to contact them though.

Raymond said...

Thank you Deepak. Had we known about your website, we would have definitely tried one of your recommendations.

Deepak said...

For Catherine: Thanks for you message, but I can't promote any tailor, without knowing them personally.

Hello Deepak,

I will be visiting the Karon Beach area for a few days in July. Do you have any recommendations for this area?
Great website and information.

Cheers,
Jerry

Deepak said...

I can only recommend Magnifique Tailor for now, which is in Patong. Its not much distance from Karon. You may call Mr. Beeba or Mrs. Rita and they will assist you. You will find their location and telephone numbers in the link below. http://www.thetruthabouttailors.com/magnifique_tailors.html

i recently used Saga in Hua hin for a suit for my daughter, skirt and Jacket. The service was excellent and that staff were pleasant, not "pushy" at all which is a nice change from other tailors who try to drag you in off the street. The quality was very good. Two fittings and advice on the style. I would use them again without hesitation.

Deepak said...

Thank you Denis. Your comment means a lot to me.

Steve said...

Hi Deepak,

Great site. Just got back from Hua Hin where I paid a visit to Saga Tailor on your recommendation.

They were first class. Excellent service, very patient and reasonable on price (more expensive than the drag you off the street merchants, but well worth the extra cost). Most importantly, the work was excellent as well.

Very satisfied with them and thank you once again.

Deepak said...

You are most welcome Steve. For me this is - Mission Accomplished.

Rene said...

Dear Deepak, grat site! Specially, I like the Social Responsibility section. I will be going to Phuket in a month. Do you have any recommendations?
Thank you!

For Lee: Try typing your tailors name in google and read all comments

Deepak said...

For Sam: I added 'I versaces' tailor last month and will be adding a lot more tailors soon. Thanks

Deepak said...

To Anonymous: When did you visit this tailor? I spoke to the owner today and they said such incident never happened. Please support me with more evidence. Please don't mention the name of the tailor in your comments, because I cannot publish any comments with names in it without fact finding.

I recently visited Saga Tailor in Hua Hin and am verry satisfied with the results. From home (The Netherlands, Europe) I brought my favourite shirt and suit and ordered 10 of the same shirts and a linnen suit. The tailor made some adjustments and now I'm having 10 perfect fitting shirts and dito linnen suit. I probably paid a little too much, but the results are excellent and it's still a lot cheaper then the prizes here in Europe, so that doesn't bother me.
My tip for travelers: bring your own shirt/suit.
Cheers,

Bas

Anonymous said...

Dear Deepak,

together with a friend we followed your advice and went to Stylo's Collection in Bangkok which is actually the same shop as Versaces Tailos Studios.
We ordered two suits and several shirts (woman) and had two last-minute fittings to be able to take everything back home with out departure.
We can confirm the good quality and service level as a basis for your recommendation. However, woman should be aware that all those shops are mainly used to produce men clothes and therefore can not provide same standard for women. All our clothes basically look like men's clothing and we will have to spend some money on re-doing them.
The tailor did not understand our requests for changing - hence, I can not recommend these two shops for woman.

I am on holiday in Hua Hin. Many tailors but which is the best. I have seen comments on saga. any others for ladies trouser suits?
Thanks

Deepak said...

Saga Tailor is my choice of tailor for both ladies and gents.

Deepak said...

Please email me instead. I cannot publish the name of the shop without making any inquiries personally.

Deepak said...

Anonymous sent me a message saying 'Canali tailors in jomtien works sloppy'. I do not believe this to be true. If you were unsatisfied with their work, I would like to know the details. From my past experience with them, they have been able to resolve all problems without fail. Please send me an email describing the problem.

Anonymous said...

Hello. Excuse me just a question. I heard talking about Thailand here. I'm about going on holiday to Asia. I would like some info on Pattaya in Thailand. I would know if It's a good place to go with family or should I choose another place? Thank You so much.

Deepak said...

Pattaya is a city of variety and you can find everything you are looking for. There are plenty of hotel, all kinds of food, culture, beach etc. It is good for a family vacation, you will find some places very loud, but at the same you will find peaceful places as well. Best of all its only 2 hours drive from Bangkok. Hua Hin is another city you might want to consider as well. All the best.

hi Deepak, enjoy reading your truths about tailors..

By the way, i am looking for good tailor of Wedding Gown. Any recommendation?

Deepak said...

hi Sheron, thank you. You may visit Boss Apparels. They are quite experienced with wedding gowns. You will find more info on them on my recommended shop link.

James said...

Base on your recommandation, I'll give Maharaja's in Pattaya a try and report back. I hope they are reliable and honest like you said.

Deepak said...

You will want to visit them again. Just make sure to make an appointment with Mr.Sarit prior to your visit.

Anonymous said...

This is a really great idea for the prospective traveller, experienced or not it is only common sense that you do your research before going down the path of having clothing made at a Tailor's, Its the old line that should be remembered, " If its too good to be true then it probably is" For anyone who doesn't take the time to have several fittings, be prepared for failure!

I am an Italian travel guide and I'm very interested in your blog because I always wont that my clients are 100% satisfied when I introduce them to one reliable taylor. Normally indian taylors are the best ones in Thailand, but berween them there some that are better, therefore I'm glad that you made this guide to suggest the people wich taylors you reccomend . Thank you so much !!

Hello Deepak , I am going to patong beach soon for a week. I want to get a debutante dress (big, white and formal)with a price range of up to $300 US. where would be the best place?

Deepak said...

I am not sure about this but you can try visiting Magnifique Tailor in Patong and ask for Ms. Rita. She will be able to help you out on this. You can get their contact details on my site.

I would like this site to expand to other places in SE Asia, not just Thailand - or at leat have other countries in the BB's.

I want to see SIN, KUL and SGN on the list, and how well BKK prices compare.

I had stuff made in Vietnam (Hoi Anh)
and was happy, other than telling the tailors to
1) Align the stripes properly , and after fixing, I never saw a better job.
2) Put on better buttons, not ones that could pass for recycled plastic.
3) Throw in a handful of spare buttons.

4) Bargaining. I hate this. Lets see the price per plain white cotton business shirt posted as a benchmark.

Deepak said...

It will be great if could assist me in expanding this site.

Deepak said...

No, I do not get any commission. I make enough through other means to sustain myself and support my family.

Philip Pompili said...

Sir, I would just like to convey my thanks to you for your web site. I used your website before coming to Bangkok and because of it I had my suits made at Empire Tailors. Yesterday I took delivery of my shirts and today I take delivery of my suits. The professionalism and attention to detail displayed by the staff at Empire was second to none. I will defiantly employ them again to fashion more clothing in the future.
